Do you struggle with your weight?

My husband and I have been trying to eat cleaner and motivate ourselves to exercise more. We normally eat pretty healthy, we don't eat junk food, but I do like to splurge on dessert (too often).

We are going on a cruise end of this year, for our, belated by 8 years, honeymoon. :D

Weight loss is hard. I'll admit, that I haven't had a huge struggle with it, but I have 2 very dear people in my life, who are my bestest friends ever, who have; one of those friends being my husband.

Here's MY story:

After each of my babies I was a size 13. When my 1st child was 10 months old I was already back down to size 1. But I got pregnant with #2 and shot back up. After Kid #2 was 12 months old I was back down to a 0 ( I lost weight drastically due to being in and out of surgery that month for kidney stones). When he was 18 months old I got pregnant with #3 and was back up to size 13. It took me almost 2 years to lose that 3rd baby weight, and it's still not completely gone today(she's almost 3). I'm only 5' 2", with a VERY tiny frame, so a size 0 looks normal, not under weight.

Currently I'm a comfortable size 2. My theory- I eat pretty healthy, and I have the genes to lose the weight. My husband, on the other hand, doesNOT have those genes. He doesn't eat horrible, but he definitely can pack on the pounds. He's super handsome regardless of his weight, but he's been working on it to be able to have more energy to play with our 3 kids (6,4,2 years old).

Here's HIS story:

Before Picture, before starting the diet, Hubby and I
My husband has been on Medifast (it's super UNhealthy stuff), but he has lost about 35 lbs or so. He has currently hit a plateau, so I'm trying to formulate my own healthy version of the diet to put him on.

I think this is a couple weeks after starting the diet
Here's an old picture of him, I think he is this size or skinnier currently

For my husband, he needed a diet that would encourage his metabolism to boost up. But, now his metabolism has learned the new swing of things. Now it's time to eat clean and healthy. Veggies please.

For me, I needed motivation to exercise and enjoy getting/staying fit. I'm not as fit as I'd like to be, but it's a slow process for me. I'm hoping next summer I'll be able to run 30 minutes and feel great. Currently, if I full on ran for 3 minutes, I would need to take a break and walk. lol, pathetic, I know, but I'm working on it. What has helped motivate me is Reshaping It All, by Candice Cameron Bure. It's a fantastic book! I highly recommend it. I'm not getting paid to promote it, just letting others know how much I enjoyed reading. It's one of my favorite books!

I can't find my pictures on my computer [that's what happens when you're married to a Tech nerd (in the most flattering way possible)]. I wanted to post pics before and after babies of me, but I can't find them. Bummer. I have some I'll throw in; I know where they are.

Right about to have Kid #2

ABOUT COLOR

A LOT OF THIS INFO HAS BEEN TAKEN FROM SHARI BRAENDEL. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HER BOOK!

What COLORS look best on YOU?

DO YOU KNOW?

Light
(They typically have blonde hair, fair skin, and light colored eyes)

Best hues: Pale to medium intensity
Accessories: Silver or gold
Best Neutrals: Navy, charcoal, light camel
Best Colors: Turquoise, pink, lavender, sapphire blue
White and Ivory are good for LIGHTS
Black: Be careful that it doesn’t’ overpower you. You can wear it, but add in some lighter colors to balance its harshness.
Best Shoe and Purse color: light camel, taupe, or gray (light or charcoal)
Best Makeup Shades: Pinks, roses, peaches, or neutrals
Hair: Getting highlights and lowlights to maintains your natural coloring is a much better option than dying it an all-over color, which will look fake.
Stir Clear of: Super dark and super bright colors. Bold makeup is not your game.

Deep
(They typically have dark brown hair sometimes a tint of red or natural highlights, medium to dark skin, and dark colored eyes)

Best hues: Medium to Deep intensity shades, with some brights
Accessories: Silver or gold
Best Neutrals: Black or dark brown
Best Colors: Purple, true red, persimmon, royal blue
White and Ivory are good for Deep (esp. white, any time)
Black: Awesome color on ya mate!
Best Shoe and Purse color: If your hair is medium to dark brown, pick a dark brown color, if your hair is black, pick a black color.
Best Makeup Shades: Browns, neutrals, berries
Hair: You can highlight, but the natural, dark hair is best on you. When highlight, don’t go too light. Medium shades of caramel and toffee are great choices. Keep the highlights around your face to a minimal.
Stir Clear of: Muted colors for clothes, and too light of colors for hair.

SOFT
(They typically have dirty blonde or mousy brown hair, fair skin, and muted colored eyes)

Best hues: Medium intensity
Accessories: Silver or gold (not shiny gold, matte is best)
Best Neutrals: Charcoal, Navy(more on the lighter side than darker),  Dark or Medium Brown
Best Colors: Butter Yellow, Teal Blue, Coral, Mint green
Soft Ivory is preferred over white
Black: Never, ever, ever…totally dulls this color group
Best Shoe and Purse color: Medium to dark brown, depending on hair color.
Best Makeup Shades: Peaches, browns, pinks, golds, soft purples
Hair:  THE BEST color group for getting highlights. They look AMAZING on you. Don’t go too light, and definitely not too dark.  Several shade of low and highlights look good on you. If you add some copper, don’t put in too much, just a hint, or you’ll get too warm for your coloring.
Stir Clear of: black, bright colors, and high contrasting colors (mixing a light and dark color, i.e. white and black together)

Clear
(They typically have dark hair, fair skin, and bright colored eyes)

Best hues: bright intensity colors
Accessories: Silver is the best option, but shiny gold can work too
Best Neutrals: Navy, Black, Deep Charcoal
Best Colors: Bright Purple, Clear red, sunny yellow, hot pink
White is preferred over ivory
Black: Looks fantastic on you! Mix it with white or another light color for high contrast. Wear it also with very bright colors, fun!
Best Shoe and Purse color: Black
Best Makeup Shades: Vibrant shades of fushia, berry and pink, bright red look amazing.
Hair: This is the only group that shouldn’t highlight their hair. Highlights dull down the high contrast and exotic coloring that you naturally have. Keep your hair dark!
Stir Clear of: Muted and dusty shades. Don’t wear brown and beige together, big no no. Khaki just isn’t the best on you.

Cool
(They typically have gray, white, or silver (sometimes ash brown) hair, any tone skin, and any colored eyes)

Best hues: Light to medium intensity with a blue or pink undertone
Accessories: Silver or rose gold
Best Neutrals: Black, Navy, Gray
Best Colors: Ocean Blue, Royal Purple, Soft pink, red
White is preferred over ivory (no yellow tones for COOLS)
Black: You can wear it well.
Best Shoe and Purse color: Charcoal or Black
Best Makeup Shades: Rose, Pink, Berry, Plum
Hair: Don’t color it, let the beauty of your grays brighten your face up.
Stir Clear of: Brown, beige, yellow and orange…any shade with a major yellow tone to it.

Warm
(They typically have RED hair, any skin (sometimes with freckles), and any colored eyes)

Best hues: Yellow undertone colors, autumn shades
Accessories: Gold is best, silver/gold mix works too
Best Neutrals: Any Brown shades
Best Colors: Rust, copper, butterscotch, turquoise
Ivory is preferred over white
Black: Be careful that it doesn’t’ overpower you. You can wear it, but keep it on the bottom half, so it doesn’t over power you. Brown is your new neutral!
Best Shoe and Purse color: Brown (esp. reddish brown)
Best Makeup Shades: Browns, neutrals, peaches, corals
Hair: Red is awesome. Keep it on. If it starts to fade you can add in some copper highlights, it’ll give it a nice lift.
Stir Clear of: PINK!!! Any shade, besides, maybe (on rare occasions) a dusty rose color.

Proper fit VIA YOUR SHAPE

Look for YOUR shape and glean from the tips!

A LOT OF THIS INFO HAS BEEN TAKEN FROM SHARI BRAENDEL. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HER BOOK!

SHAPE B
Gains weight in belly
This shape’s strengths:
*Usually have toned arms and legs and can tone well all around, or get muscular quickly/easily.
*Usually have nice legs to “showcase”
*Can easily tame a tummy with shape wear and look fantastic
* Balanced shoulders and hips

This shape’s struggles:
*Obviously trying to camouflage midsection
*Trying to avoid the dreaded muffin-top
* Belts and Bikinis aren’t always friendly to this shape

How to fit pants:
Fit the largest part of your body, which would be waist, and then tailor the rest of the pant to fit. Some jeans brands to look for, that look GREAT on this body shape, are:
- Lee Slender Secret ($42)
-Levi 512 Slimming and Shaping ($45)
-Gap Perfect Boot ($70)
-Jones of New York Signature Shape ($79)
-Not Your Daughter’s Jeans ($118) sold at Dillards in Cheyenne

How to fit Shirts:
Number one rule: use the SKIMMING effect.
-Don’t wear belts, ruffles, waist ribbon, and any extra “bulk” including buttons or thin pockets, on your midsection.
-Don’t wear shirts that are too big for you. It’ll make you look larger and sloppy.
-Wear shirts that fit well in the shoulders and skim your tummy straight down, not narrowing at the waist or cinched with a waist band, etc.
-Beware of empire waist, many people say they are great to accentuate a waist up high where it’s the “skinniest” part of the waist, but for this body shape, often times, empire waist isn’t flattering, because it encourages the “maternity” look.
How to find the perfect bathing suit for this body type:
Look for a monokini or a tankini with either a built in shape-wear, or a special design/ruching.
My biggest recommendation would be a one piece that gathers in diagonal ruching, in a patterned color, with pretty details at the bust.

Patterns are great for this body type.

Accessories for this body type:
If you could only have one accessory, it should be a long necklace. Not too long, we don’t want it to end at your belly.
Also scarves are great for this body type.
A cute blazer or cardigan is a must for this body type also.
Stay away from purses that fall at your midsection when wearing them, opt for a bag falling at the hip or an arm candy bag/clutch.
REMEMBER:
If you’re a small woman keep your object sizes small: your hats, purses, jewelry, etc. Keep the prints on your clothes small as well.
If you’re a medium, average woman, keep your object sizes medium: your hats, purses, jewelry, etc. Keep the prints on your clothes medium sized as well.
If you’re a larger woman, keep your object sizes large: your hats, purses, jewelry, etc. Keep the prints on your clothes large as well.

Shape D
Gains weight in derriere, hips, and thighs

This shape’s strengths:
* Narrow waist
* Full Bottom (it’s desirable)
* Trim upper body, usually trim face

This shape’s struggles:
* Small shoulders (shirts can fall off easily)
* Usually battles cellulite on rear and legs
* Shorts are not friendly to this shape
* Usually flatter chested

How to fit pants:
Fit the largest part of your body, which would be your hips or thighs, then tailor in the rest. The struggle for this body type is minor to major gaping in the waist, but that’s a really easy fix. Some jeans brands to look for, that look GREAT on this body shape, are:
- Riders by Lee ($20) @Walmart and Kmart
- Fashion Bug Blue Style ($25)
-Eddie Bauer Curvy fit ($60)
-Lucky Brand Classic Rider Bootleg ($115)
-Joe’s Jeans “The Honey” ($175)

How to fit Shirts:
This shape has the largest versatility in the shirt department.
-Because of the slim upper body and usually small chest, this body type can wear turtlenecks well; deep V tops well, any crazy embellished top, pretty much anything.
-If your shoulders are small and slopped though the best neckline will be a bateau neck, and halters are NOT good for soft shoulder.
-What to keep in mind is to NOT wear tops that are long and hit at your hips or across your bottom, if you want to camouflage your rear.
- Wearing tops that have embellishments that give the illusion of a fuller chest is always good to balance out this body type.

How to find the perfect bathing suit for this body type:
Choose wide straps, or strapless, no halters.
Add horizontal stripes or prints to your top area while keeping the bottom solid, or add small prints to the bottom and a large matching print to the top.
Swim shorts or skirts are cute and covering, but make sure it doesn’t hit the fullest part of your hips.
If you’re comfortable with your hips and have short legs, high cut brief style bottoms will give the illusion of longer legs.

Accessories for this body type:
If you could only have one accessory, it should be earrings
This body type needs to wear fancy embellished tops, a necklace, most times, will compete too much with the shirt, so a set of earrings will be ideal.
Scarves, necklaces, bracelets, rings all work well
A cute jacket that is a close color tone to her pants is a must for outer column dressing. Make sure the jacket doesn’t hit at the fullest part of your bottom. It’s better if it hits at your hip bones or waist.
Stay away from purses that fall at your hips when wearing them; opt for a bag falling at the waist or an arm candy bag/clutch.

Shape O
Gains weight in the bust (Overly endowed)
This shape’s strengths:
*Blessed with breasts
*Nice legs
* Full Figure

This shape’s struggles:
*Back Pain (anybody?)
* Sometimes weight gain in the belly and upper body too
* Not a lot of shirts work with this body type
How to fit pants:
Fit the largest part of your body, and then tailor the rest of the pant to fit. Get pants with a slight flare at the bottom, not too wide or you’ll look boxy. Most likely the legs will be baggy, have no fear, here are some jeans brands to look for, that look GREAT on this body shape:
- Old Navy Diva ($32)
- Lane Bryant Right Fit Stretch Flare ($45)
- Land’s End Traditional Relaxed and Natural Fit ($60)
- Lauren Woman by Ralph Lauren ($75)
- Seven7 Straight Leg ($75)
How to fit Shirts:
Your BEST neckline is a V-neck, hands down.
- If you tuck in your tops wear with a skinny belt, never wide belts.
- Prints make a full bust appear smaller, hope you don’t have a print phobia
- Add a jacket on top of solid color tops to minimize upper body
- Camisoles are a staple for under many tops. Showing off too much cleavage isn’t sexy, it’s tacky. Play up the cleavage for your hubby.
- To have the most balanced look match the color of your shirt to the same color tone as your pants, with a different tone on top to create inner column dressing.
- The sleeves on your t-shirt should not end right at your bust, it’ll just broaden the horizontal line across your arms, not appealing.
How to find the perfect bathing suit for this body type:
The biggest thing is finding a suit with ample support, it makes ALL the difference.

Patterns or solids with shirring are good for this body type.

Halters are cute. Don’t forget to show off your beautiful legs.

Accessories for this body type:
If you could only have one accessory, it should be a GOOD BRA. I know, I know, it’s not really an accessory, more of a NECESSITY. But it’s the biggest thing to have in a really good quality and fit.
Keep necklaces away from hitting on or into the bust area.
All jewelry looks good on this body type, in some way.
Stir clear from scarves, they add bulk to any area that isn’t needed on this body type.

Shape X (balanced)
Gains weight evenly all over
This shape’s strengths:
*Shoulders and hips are balanced
*Narrow waist
* Ideal body type

This shape’s struggles:
*Many brands don’t make outfits for a “perfect body” type
* Can look sloppy, easily, without the right fit
* Being responsible to not dress too sexy
How to fit pants:
This body type can wear a straight-leg style jean/pant better than the other body shapes. Wear them with a high heel. Here are some jeans brands to look for, that look GREAT on this body shape:
- Old Navy Flirt Bootcut ($30)
- Gap Long and Lean Style ($60)
- Eddie Bauer Classic Fit ($60)
- CAbi Contemporary ($89)
- Citizens of Humanity Ingrid Style ($150)

How to fit Shirts:
Most tops will look great on this body type.
When wearing a loose top, pair it with slim pants
When wearing a Slim top, pair it with full pants/skirt
Dresses look amazing on you, esp. pencil skirt cuts.
How to find the perfect bathing suit for this body type:
You can pull off any look with bathing suits.

If you do tend to gain some weight, keep an eye out to see if you fall into another body type.

Accessories for this body type:
If you could only have one accessory, it should be a belt. Having a full figure in balanced proportions is super sexy. There’s nothing like nipping it all in and accentuating it with a fantastic belt. Own a few.
All jewelry looks good on this body type, in some way.
Scarves and all other accessories look good on this body type.
Everyone is different, even if 2 people share an x-body type. One could have a long torso and short legs and battle with that. The other could have a short neck and soft chin and battle with that.
You need to take a lot more into consideration other than your body type when wearing jewelry or other accessories.
