Essentials List for Women # 5 and # 6 (and in time for the holidays)

The next 2 items on the essentials list are:

#5 Earrings- Diamond Studs and Hoops/dangles:

Diamond studs always work on anyone any age. Go big or small...whatever you think looks good on you. There's a couple reasons they say a diamond is forever. 1 being that diamonds never loose their value and 2 being that they are always in style, always!

Hoop earrings are almost always in style too, if not dangles are:

About size: if you have a short or thick neck don't wear hoops or dangles lower than your jaw line.
About age: it's really up to the season on what's in style...a variety of colors can go with ALL ages, I'd stick with more expensive looking styles the older you get though. No plastic earrings after 20's. :)

#6 Your most Glamorous Lipstick:

Find your color that is bold and makes you look fantastic!!! That's all I can say, it's a search that is rewarding.

The only thing I can mention about applying your new found glamorously bold lip color would be keep the eyes and cheeks make-up very neutral, otherwise you'll end up looking like a clown. It's just never classy, and your eyes, cheeks, and lips will be fighting for attention and someone beholding your beauty will get sore eyes trying to find a spot to rest them on your face....know what I mean? :)

ALSO- If you have full lips(lucky dog), but want to minimize their boldness, you can go for a darker bold color and don't wear gloss.
If you have thin lips and think that pulling off a bold color would be ridiculous, think again. Use brighter shades, never dark, and high shine gloss! You have a full pout for sure! :)

I hope you can put on some cute diamond studs and a bold lip color for a holiday party you go to this coming week!!! God bless and MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Essentials List for Women # 3 and # 4

Okay, so here is your next set of Essentials from the list I started here.

Essential # 3--- Umbrella

Go for a mini-umbrella that will fit at the bottom of your purse, if you live where I do, the weather seems to change on you every 5 minutes, and an Umbrella is an essential to keeping your hair and make-up looking great, or in reality, keeping your sanity looking great while you get drenched, but cheerfully escort your little children inside under your "wing"! I'd recommend a cute design!!! Here are a couple ideas:

 Essential #4---Sunglasses

Do you know you can get a sunburn on your eyeballs? :) You can, and you should wear glasses as much as possible. 2 styles that are usually always classy are

and Aviators:

Next Spring/Summer you will be seeing a lot of Cat eye styles.

As far a sunglasses go, age doesn't matter much with styles, but I'd leave too crazy of colors for the younger crowd. Face shape determines what will look the best on you. Generally if you have a square-ish face you should go for round glasses. If you have a round face you should go for square/rectangle-ish glasses. I'm one to believe that it's really more a trial and error process. I have an oval face shape and I tend to look better in rectangle styles...but round look ok too. Try it out and get some cat eyes!!! They are totally cute! :)

Refreshment for your SOUL

Morning and Evening
Charles H. Spurgeon
December 3, 2010
Morning Reading
There is no spot in thee.
"Having pronounced His Church positively full of beauty, our Lord confirms His praise by a precious negative, "There is no spot in thee." As if the thought occurred to the Bridegroom that the carping world would insinuate that He had only mentioned her comely parts, and had purposely omitted those features which were deformed or defiled, He sums up all by declaring her universally and entirely fair, and utterly devoid of stain. A spot may soon be removed, and is the very least thing that can disfigure beauty, but even from this little blemish the believer is delivered in his Lord's sight. If He had said there is no hideous scar, no horrible deformity, no deadly ulcer, we might even then have marvelled; but when He testifies that she is free from the slightest spot, all these other forms of defilement are included, and the depth of wonder is increased. If He had but promised to remove all spots by-and-by, we should have had eternal reason for joy; but when He speaks of it as already done, who can restrain the most intense emotions of satisfaction and delight? O my soul, here is marrow and fatness for thee; eat thy full, and be satisfied with royal dainties.
Christ Jesus has no quarrel with His spouse. She often wanders from Him, and grieves His Holy Spirit, but He does not allow her faults to affect His love. He sometimes chides, but it is always in the tenderest manner, with the kindest intentions: it is "my love" even then. There is no remembrance of our follies, He does not cherish ill thoughts of us, but He pardons and loves as well after the offence as before it. It is well for us it is so, for if Jesus were as mindful of injuries as we are, how could He commune with us? Many a time a believer will put himself out of humour with the Lord for some slight turn in providence, but our precious Husband knows our silly hearts too well to take any offence at our ill manners."

5 step-plan to looking your best in your clothes

There are really only 5 things you need to figure out for a perfect wardrobe and the best YOU:

 1. Your shape- how your clothes fit

To me, this is number one because you can wear something that is your color and fits you awful and it's tragic. Or you can wear something that fits you perfectly, but not your color and you may still look presentable with the right make-up. Putting the 2 together just makes you look spectacular.

 2. Your Colors

FIND THEM!!!!!! Seriously, this can change your whole life of shopping and looking good. If you know what colors are your best, just a handful...than you can skip whole racks in the store and just pin point the items you know look good on you. (I saw a woman, I'm guessing in her 50's, wearing her right colors at the store the other day and I had to comment to her that she was just beautiful!)

3. Your Style

Many fashion icons will tell you that personal style ALWAYS trumps over the latest trend. You don't have to be trendy to look good. But you do need to find your style(s) and stick to it. It also makes shopping way easier. If you know you like the nautical look than you will be looking for striped shirts and cute button details on some trouser cut pants...if you know you like romantic you'll be sticking to girly stuff instead of maybe a more modern/contemporary metro look.

4. Your Budget

Having a set amount to spend on clothes each month is important. You don't want to be in debt to your "shopaholic" credit card, nor do you want to completely neglect the way you look and wear rags. Would you want your children to grow up wearing rags, going to their job and looking unprofessional? You are your child's biggest influence. They will copy what you do...don't dress in rags. Making wise choices when shopping will stretch your budget as well. If you know what styles fit your shape, what colors look good on you, what your favorite "style" is, and what clothing lines fit you well, you can shop at a thrift store even and still look good. It's all about coordinating. (Also, side-note, if you do find something at a thrift shop really cheap and great quality, but it has a stain, try going home and soaking it in oxy-clean. It may lift the stain. I've soaked some items in there for a whole week and it worked!!! Just make sure the material can be soaked in something like that first.)

5. Your Accessories

This makes or breaks an outfit. I count shoes as an accessory, because it can really spice up or down an outfit. For example pairing a floral print A-line dress to the knee with some boots can be kind of down to earth feminine. Pairing the floral print dress with a pair of stilettos is totally girly, pairing the floral print dress with a pair of rocker studded heels is quirky, edgy,'s not the dress, obviously, it's the shoes.

Roots and Bangs

Okay, so the skinny on Hair Styles...has anyone notices the latest coloring craze??? The over grown roots??? Drew Barrymore was sporting those a lot recently.

AND then there are the BANGS still:

So, if you want to update your long hair...I suggest some bangs, they are super cute on most face shapes. Ask your stylist before chopping though!

I found a new hair salon that is suppose to be good. I can't get in until Jan. 27th and I called today on Nov. that just crazy. I have one solid color brunette hair with some over grown layers and it's long. I'm going to get some color in my hair...haven't done that in a LONG time and I'm keep it long but adding some layers to the front. Here are some pictures of what I want. I'll be sure to show you my new do in January!!!

Okay so I love Giselle's (top photo) coloring and I'll try and go for that...golden blonde highlights look. But I love the length and style of Kim's (bottom photo) hair. My hair isn't quite that long yet...but almost...I have 2 inches to go...I'll probably get it cut in that style!!! What do you guys think??

Beauty Tips

10 Top tips for beauty (in no certain order):

1. Take care of your skin!!! Bleach/ Pluck the hairs, peel off the black heads, keep acne at bay, keep fresh with DAILY exfoliating and moisturizing!

"First, regular white sugar is the best exfoliate around. You may have heard or read about my sugar beauty tip already, but it is still my favorite and one I use it daily. Just lather up your face and body in the shower and use a handful of sugar to scrub away any dead skin cells. For a quick face firming mask, no need to spend tons of money on a fancy facial. Just open the fridge and crack open an egg. Apply the whites to the skin and let it sit for about 10 minutes. Rinse off and apply your moisturizer as usual for a fresh complexion.
Blackheads be gone! Elmer’s Glue is just as good as a pore strip for removing blackheads from your nose. Traumatized by age spots that just won’t go away? Follow Carmindy’s tip and “Put lemon juice on age spots at night to help fade them. But never apply lemon juice to the skin right before sun exposure.”*

2. Eat properly. Drink lots of water, eat foods that are living with vitamins and nutrients. Stop feeding yourself dead food that is just turning into cellulite and poop! Exercise too!

I have a blog about food called BUT there are better ones out there (;; . Main thing is, stop all proccessed food. If God made it, it's good to eat! Period! and should be eaten, BUTTER, MEAT, NUTS, FRUIT, VEGGIES, won't get fat off butter, but you will off low fat potato chips!

Exercising doesn't only help your outward appearance, but it helps inward too, in more ways than one. It helps us release stress and pent up emotions, but it also helps our guts. :) haha, it's true. Our bodies NEED exercise to cleanse out our organs. It's important to keep everything flowing properly. I battle kidney stones, and drink tons of water and exercising regularly are key elements to fighting off the stones, for me. Lets get healthy!!!

3. Get your sleep! This statistic is alarming:

I read a crazy statistic that said “In 1850 Americans crawled into bed at a reasonable hour and slept an average of 9.5 hours a night. By 1910, half the country had electricity, but our recent ancestors were still breathing evenly with their eyes closed, on average, nine hours a night. By 1950 an average night’s sleep decreased to 8 hours. And by 2008, Americans, on average, go 6.5 hours of sleep a night.” - Kathy Peel – America’s Family Manager

Sleep affects your puffy eyes, your attitude and your ability to look at yourself in a more positive way.

 4. Clothes that fit properly! That is a must!!!

If you don't know what you should wear or what looks good on you, find out what body shape you have from here. Knowing that will help in all sorts of circumstances. Many clothing lines try to give a guideline of what some body types should wear. For proper fit tips on what to wear for your body type go here.

5. An Organized life will increase your chances of looking beautiful and well put together, because you will have all your items accessible to you when you need to pair them together.

Look here and at for organizing tips. You top will be clean when you need it, your shoes will be found when you're running out the door and you won't look frazzled when you arrive. Time manging is SO important to looking good. It takes time to fix your hair, after all!!!

Afterall, "There are no ugly women, only lazy ones." ~Helena Rubinstein

 6. HAIR!!! One of the BIGGEST things we need to focus on when we are getting ready every day.

A beautiful face and clothes with nasty hair is just WRONG!!! I'm not the best with hair, but I do know a few tips. To draw attention to your eyes, cut bangs around eyebrow length. To draw attention to your mouth, cut bangs to long enough to fall over your eyelids. To draw attention AWAY from a big nose, wear a side part, NOT one in the middle. It just draws a line straight down to your nose and says," HELLO SCHNOSE!" (i know from experience!) Anything asymmetrical is great to draw attention away from your nose. Head bands with detail on one side of your head, a big flower clipped behind one ear, hair that is straight and down and tucked behind one ear only. Layers framing your face should fall at your best features. My best are my cheekbones, I would have "wings" at my cheekbones if I had layers.

 7. Make-Up! A girls best friend, right?

Yeah, right, until our foundation is too orange or too pale. Until our mascara runs down our face in the rain, and we don't know it. Until we have lipstick on our teeth, white concealer, eye shawdow/liner, (you name it) and kind of white raccoon eyes. Any of those and MUCH more = fail in the make-up realm.
Some tips to applying make-up:  a) Start with a clean canvas that has been moisturized. b) go natural..not too much. Apply your lipstick and blush first and then do your eyes. Make sure you aren't caking on the eye make-up. You only need 2-3 colors. One base color that matches your skin tone, a highlighting color, to draw attention to the good areas you want highlighted or need help virtually "lifting". Putting highlighter above eyebrow can help it looked lifted and more arched. Then a contouring color, something a little dark and complimentary to your eye color. Brown eyes look best in blues, Blue eyes look best in browns, Green eyes look best in purple, gold, peach, hazel eyes look amazing in stealy gray. c) learn your cheek gone shape and how to apply blush to make you look the best. There are so many ways you can apply it. Mainly. keep it 2-finger spaces away from your nose on the apples of your cheeks and toward you temples. Don't put it on the actual cheeks, but just the bones. :) d) lip color should compliment the other colors of your face. if you have thin lips stay away from dark colors, which will make them appear thinner. If you have big lips, you are one lucky girl, pucker up with any beautiful shade, but stay away from glosses if you want to down play them.

more tips for make-up*:

  • For those of us who have ever dropped our favorite expensive eye shadow or blush on the bathroom floor only to see is shatter, don't worry. Simply buy a cheap plastic clear container and put the remaining broken powder inside and crush up a bit more. Now you have a loose powder and can continue using the product lengthening the life of it.
  • Forgot to pack your eye-liner? In a pinch mascara can pull double-duty as an eyeliner. Use an brush to pick up a little color from the mascara wand and smudge it into the lash line.
  • Can’t get that last bit of blush to come off? Swipe a cotton ball dipped in mineral oil across stubborn makeup. It will melt off.
8. Attitude (a good attitude really does make one more beautiful. Its a radiance and glow!)
Read this if you're interested in the topic.

9. Staying Stylish_ keep on top of the latest fashions without going overboard!

Yes, fashion repeats itself. But it doesn't repeat itself in the same exact way. There will be different colors, prints, fabrics and embellishments of a style. It's good to update your wardrobe with a few new pieces each season. Buy classic pants that are in style but won't go out too quickly. Then buy a couple tops that are really sylish, a sweater that is sylish, a purse, and shoes. Keep a classic Jacket (i.e. peacoat) on hand. White tee-shirt and flip flops are items that will always be "in". Have a basic all-seasonal wardrobe of a few classic pieces and only buy a couple new ones each season, when needed. If the style of last summer's is still "in", great, but if not, consign the items and get some of your money back!!! :)

10. Shopping Well!!!

Stop shopping for odds and ends from the clearance rack. It's just making things worse. Shop with a purpose. We have the internet!!! It's such a great resource to look at what's out there, what's in style and what you might be able to match with the items you already have in your wardrobe. Check out this page for ideas on stores to go to for your age!

Hey Howdy Hey frrom the Wild, Wild, West!!!

Well, I haven't had the internet for about 2 weeks...ahh...pure torture. lol. just got it up today! I had to come say HI!!! Things are a little slow, since I have been busy unpacking and organizing my house. I had a chance to do some clothes shopping in my new town though, of course...:) I thought I'd write today again about style.

Remember how I gave ideas and pictures about which style suits you best here?

Well, I thought I'd mention what MY styles are.

First of all, you may have more than one style. I find this with a lot of women. We have our good side and our bad side.

Some good side styles include: Romantic, Trendy, Classic, and possibly Earthy.

Some bad side styles include: Wild Child, Sporty, Earthy, and possibly Trendy(fasionista)

Let me explain. Maybe you love the look of a white sheath dress and black tights and black pumps...a very classic look. But you also have the bad boy side and love the look of the biker style leather jacket and ripped and acid wash jeans...etc.

Here is another example and it is also MY style. I'm very girly so my good girl style is Romantica, I love florals, lace, ruffles, eyelet, pearls, diamonds, satin, etc. Here's an example picture:
And next, I have my tough-guy, bad-boy style, which being very girly is just the Earthy but it's true.

I encourage you to find your style(s) and stick with them. It will make shopping WAY more worthwhile. For example, I like to have 2 warm coats. For my Romanitca style I have a cream colored Pea Coat, that's really cute! I'm now looking for a camel haired leather jacket type to go with my Earthy Chic look.: )

Essentials List #1 and #2

The first 2 things on a Woman's essential list starting at the TOP  should be:

#1 Gentlemen's Hat (for Fall/Winter season)

(This would include hats like a Fedora, Panama style, Cowboy, Beret, newsboy, etc.)

Age: All ages can wear any of these styles

Body Type: Whether you are a big woman, medium woman, or small woman depends on how big you want to go with your hat. A Huge hat on a little woman looks silly, just as a little hat on a big woman does. Try and find the right size to look proportionate to your body. Where your ears sit on your head(high or low) will help you also to pick the best style that works for you. A hat that covers ears that poke out(if that's something you don't like) can help make a nicer look.

 Pictures of examples:

The Fashionista might pick a Fedora
Earthy Chic might pick the cowboy hat or suede newsie
The Romantica might pick the blue hat with bow or the red velvet cap
Wild Child might pick the hat with all the embellishments(circle tabs) or the blue castro looking cap that had a turban look to it.

 #2 The Sunhat

(anything with a visor or wide brim to keep sun out of eyes)

Age: All ages can keep it neutral or go bright and bold. For the more mature woman, it's nice to have some fancier details, such a shiny hardware.

Body Type: same as in #1, fit to your ears and your body size scale. Big floppy hats are SO fun.

 Classy Lady                                                                    Wild Child
 Fashionista                                                                 Earthy Chic
